Parades and Pavement

Many people believe their horse cannot be on the pavement unless they have metal shoes! Think about it … metal has its own concussive forces and when combined with pavement it accentuates this concussion, not to mention the lack of traction when metal meets pavement. Healthy bare hooves can travel many many miles on the pavement. The more they travel equine hooves are capable to “rise to the demand” being asked. Horses with healthy hooves and a natural diet will build a thicker sole and will grow more hoof wall when putting the miles on the pavement. Parades are easy! Healthy bare hooves get great traction, horses can feel the pavement and feel more secure when travelling. Also, if you feel you need hoof protection on the pavement, hoof boots are your best option. They provide whole sole coverage for protection and they have traction on the pavement.
